I woke up this morning and in my back yard
Guess what I saw it was so bizarre
Ten little hens, ten little hens at my gate

I called my friend Sam, hurry come quick,
He was drinking juice in which he nearly spit, when he said
“Hey, there are ten little hens at your gate!”
I said, “I know! Let’s count them!”

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, 10… ten little hens at my gate

I was in shock I knew I couldn’t keep them all
Sammy took two home to his mom
Now let’s count how many hens I have left
Let’s see… 10 minus 2…

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 … yeah that’s right… eight little hens at my gate

My dad called a farmer. He lives off the land.
He said he’d take six off of my hands
Hey that’s great…. six less hens at my gate.
Now 8 minus 6 is 2!

(solo) (It getting loud around here)

My friend Lori Beth called on the phone
She heard my dilemma and said she’d take one
Now there’s one little hen, one little hen at my gate

“Mom can I keep it?” She said, “That depends…”
“Come on mom, its just one little hen.”
She said, “Look again… looks like your hens laid eggs!”
What?? Let’s count!
